The Nebraska soccer team (4-2-0, 0-0-0 Big Ten) closes out non-conference play with a road trip this week to Tucson to face No. 21 Arizona State (5-1-0, 0-0-0 Pac-12) and Arizona (2-2-0, 0-0-0 Pac-12).

Arizona will serve as the host for both matches as the Huskers, who enter the week coming off an impressive shutout of Loyola at home, battle the Sun Devils on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT) at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.

NU squares off with the Wildcats on Sunday at 3 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network.

Last Time Out

The Huskers extended its streak of allowing no goals in the second half to six consecutive games with a non-conference win at Hibner Stadium over the weekend. Nebraska, led by goals from Eleanor Dale, Reagan Raabe and Jordan Zade, scored first and shut out Loyola on Sunday afternoon, 3-0.

Next Up

The Huskers open conference play as they host Purdue at Hibner Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 19, starting at 1:05 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on Big Ten Network+ and will be broadcast on KRNU.

  • Nebraska has out shot its opponents 99-56 on the season, including a 53-28 advantage in shots on goal. The Huskers have also allowed only three goals in six games of play.
  • The Huskers matched their non-conference win total from the 2018 season by picking up their fourth victory on Sunday against Loyola. In 2018, NU went 4-3-1 during non-conference play and 5-3-3 in conference play.
  • Freshman Abbey Schwarz leads the team with four assists, as she has two game-winning assists on the season.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sami Hauk was named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week in back-to-back weeks on Aug. 24 and Aug. 31. The Huskers have won this honor in 2018 and most recently during the 2020-21 season when junior goalkeeper Makinzie Short took home the award to close out the season.  

Raabe, Dale Leading Husker Offense

  • Sophomore forwards Reagan Raabe and Eleanor Dale are among the leaders on the team in offensive production.
  • Raabe leads the Huskers with four goals and is eighth in the Big Ten. Her nine points this season also rank first on the team.
  • Dale leads the Huskers with two game-winning goals, which ranks first on the team and seventh in the Big Ten. She has the second-most goals on the team with two and has two assists on the season.

Scouting the Arizona State Sun Devils

  • No. 21 Arizona State is 5-1-0 this season and finished fourth in the Pac-12 conference last season. The Sun Devils opened their season with a five-game winning streak, but No. 17 LSU handed Arizona State its first loss last weekend.
  • The all-time series between Arizona State and Nebraska is tied, 0-1-1, dating back to the first meeting in 2009. In 2010, the Sun Devils won, 5-0.
  • Head Coach Graham Winkworth holds a 30-35-9 record in his fifth season at ASU. His career record is 96-53-16 in his eighth year overall. Winkworth is assisted by Shigeyoshi “Sugar” Shinohara, Jo Chubb and Kali Harmon.

Scouting the Arizona Wildcats

  • Arizona is 2-2-0 this year and finished 11th in the Pac-12 last season. In their most recent outing, the Wildcats topped Cal State Northridge, 3-2.
  • Nebraska leads the all-time series against the Wildcats, dating back to the first meeting in 1994. The Huskers defeated Arizona in their last matchup in 2010, 3-0.
  • Arizona hosts Texas Tech on Thursday night before playing Nebraska on Sunday.
  • Head Coach Becca Moros is in her first season at Arizona. She is assisted by Brian Periman, Lorraine Quinn and Katie Coleman.

Huskers Celebrating 28th Season in 2021

  • The Nebraska soccer program is in its 28th year since the inaugural campaign in 1994. Head Coach John Walker has been at the helm of the team since its inception, guiding the Huskers to more than 330 all-time victories.
  • Nebraska has made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances in its first 27 seasons, including two trips to the Elite Eight and eight Sweet 16 berths.
  • The Huskers have captured four conference regular-season titles and six conference tournament crowns. As a member of the Big 12, NU won the regular-season championship in 1996, 1999 and 2000, while winning the tournament title in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011 and two seasons later, swept the regular-season and tournament crowns.
