Huskers Land Walk-On Commit from Lincoln High FB/TE John Goodwin

John Goodwin from Lincoln High has accepted an offer to walk-on with Nebraska, he confirmed to KLIN Sunday afternoon. Goodwin is now the 22nd member of the Husker’s 2019 walk-on class.

The fullback and tight end is listed as 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds on MaxPreps. In 13 games over the past two seasons, Goodwin garnered 208 rushing yards on 52 carries. He also had 11 receptions for 126 yards.

Goodwin did not make his announcement public via social media. According to the Omaha World-Herald, Goodwin has been committed to the Huskers for two weeks. His silence wasn’t for lack of a enthusiasm, though. Goodwin is completely sold on the Nebraska football program.

“I would say the winning mindset at Nebraska was a huge part,” Goodwin told KLIN of his decision to commit to NU. “Everyone in this program (is) ready to win and you can see and tell how motivated they are to do so. That’s something I wanted to get the chance to be apart of, and Nebraska will give me the chance to become the best I can be.”

Goodwin will join his Lincoln High teammate, defensive back Cam Kleinschmidt in the Husker’s 2019 walk-on class. All of Nebraska’s commitments since December 19th will be made official this week on National Signing Day, which is on Wednesday, February 6th.
