Huskers Kick Off Beach Volleyball Season with Home Matches

The Nebraska beach volleyball team is set to launch its season with a series of matches at the Hawks Championship Center this week, marking the beginning of their ambitious schedule. The Huskers will host McKendree for back-to-back matches, first on Thursday at 3 p.m., followed by an early morning game on Friday at 8 a.m. The action continues on Friday with a match against Park at 4 p.m., promising a thrilling start to the season for the Huskers.

Fans won’t miss any of the action despite the matches being closed to the public due to space constraints, as all home games will be streamed live on the Huskers’ YouTube page and shared across volleyball social media platforms. This digital coverage ensures supporters can cheer on their team from anywhere.

The season’s opening stretch also includes matches against Ottawa, Southwest Baptist, and Wayne State, scheduled consecutively from February 26 to 28, providing the Huskers with an opportunity to build momentum early in the season.

Nebraska will then hit the road for the Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from March 2-3, where they’ll face formidable opponents, including Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, North Alabama, LSU, Central Arkansas, and Houston Christian. This tournament will test the Huskers against some of the nation’s top beach volleyball programs.

The team’s journey continues in Hawaii for the annual Queen’s Cup from March 7-9, featuring round-robin play against Hawaii, Pepperdine, Chaminade, and St. Mary’s. The Huskers’ Hawaiian adventure will conclude with matches at Hawaii Hilo on March 11 and 12.

After returning to the mainland, Nebraska will compete in three matches in San Diego on March 14 against Feather River, San Diego Mesa, and Grossmont, before wrapping up their season at the Long Beach State Tournament on March 15-16. Here, they’ll go up against Pepperdine, CSUN, Texas, and Long Beach State, facing a challenging end to their season.

Coming off a record-setting year with a 15-5 finish, the most wins since the program’s inception in 2013, the Huskers are looking to build on their success and reach new heights in the competitive world of collegiate beach volleyball. With a packed schedule that includes both home and away matches against top-tier opponents, the Nebraska beach volleyball team is poised for another standout season.
