Huskers Host Scarlet Knights in Three-Game Series



The Nebraska softball team is set to host Rutgers in a three-game series in Lincoln, Neb. this April 1-3 at Bowlin Stadium. Fans can listen to the games on the Huskers Radio Network or Huskers.com with the call by Nate Rohr and Mattie Fowler Burkhardt. All games will also be streamed live on BTN+ (subscription required). 
 
Nebraska (22-9) has won the last seven games with an offense that leads the Big Ten in numerous categories including runs, hits, home runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Billie Andrews is the conference and national leader in home runs with 17. Andrews is also the Big Ten leader in RBIs (37), total bases (96), home runs per game (0.55), RBIs per game (1.19) and slugging percentage (.932). Junior-transfer Mya Felder leads the Huskers with a .425 batting average, tallying 31 hits, five doubles, two homers and 17 RBIs. 
 
In the circle, seniors Olivia Ferrell and Courtney Wallace have been leaders throughout the first half of the season. Ferrell (12-4) holds a 2.24 ERA with 109 strikeouts through 96.2 innings. Wallace (10-4) has a 3.60 ERA through 89.1 innings and has tossed 64 strikeouts. 
 
Rutgers (23-12) opened Big Ten Conference play against Minnesota, dropping the series, 2-1. The Scarlet Knights claimed a midweek victory in an in-state matchup against Monmouth, winning 11-3. This will be Rutgers first time traveling to Lincoln to take on the Huskers. 

Nebraska Quick Hits  

  • This is the first time that the Scarlet Knights will travel to Lincoln. 
  • All five home games at Bowlin Stadium have been decided by six runs or more.  
  • The Huskers currently average 6.39 runs per game which is on track for one of the highest averages in school history. The current record was set in 2015 when NU averaged 6.90 runs per game. 
  • Billie Andrews, Sydney Gray, Abbie Squier and Kaylin Kinney have all slugged two home runs in one game this season.

  • The Huskers are currently ranked No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference with a 198 runs. 
  • NU has 264 hits on the season, the most in the conference through the first half of the season. 
  • Ranking first in the Big Ten Conference, the Big Red averages 1.61 homers per game. This average ranks 10th in the NCAA. 
  • The Huskers also lead the conference with 50 homers on the season, a number that ranks seventh in the nation. 
  • NU is No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference with a .402 on-base percentage. 
  • The Big Red is first in slugging percentage in the conference (0.550). This percentage ranks 18th in the NCAA.  
  • Nebraska has been walked 120 times this season. This numbers leads the Big Ten and is 13th in the nation. 
  • The Huskers bring in 6.39 runs per game, ranking first in the conference.
  • Billie Andrews leads the nation with 17 home runs on the season, a total that is two above the players in second. 
  • The sophomore also ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in home runs per game with an average of 0.55. 
  • Billie Andrews ranks first in conference and second in the nation in total bases with 96. 
  • The Gretna, Neb., native ranks first in the Big Ten Conference in slugging percentage (0.950). 
  • Billie Andrews is also ranked first in the conference in RBIs with 1.19 per game. 
  • Cam Ybarra ranks second in the conference in triples (three) and triples per game (0.12). 
  • Sydney Gray is fourth in the conference, averaging 0.68 walks per game. 
  • Mya Felder ranks fourth in the conference in batting average holding a .425 average.
