This week, the Nebraska soccer team hosts Northwestern on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. (CT) before traveling to Michigan for a matchup on Sunday in Ann Arbor, beginning at 1 p.m. (CT).
Thursday’s festivities at Hibner include a free scarf for the first 450 fans in attendance.
Last Time Out
Sami Hauk recorded her second shutout of the season as the Huskers defeated Minnesota 1-0 in front of 1,456 fans at Hibner Stadium on Friday night.
Next Up
The Huskers will stay on the road for a pair of conference games in Indiana as the Big Red faces Purdue on Thursday, Sept. 29 and Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Quick Notes
• Sophomore Sarah Weber, a preseason player to watch, leads the conference standings in shots with 38 through nine games of play. Junior Eleanor Dale also made the list and sits in third with 29 shots through eight games.
• Weber also continues to lead the Huskers on the offensive side as she leads the team with four goals on the season, good for 10th in the Big Ten standings.
• Nebraska has held strong on defense allowing only one goal in the last three games. Junior goalkeeper Hauk earned her sixth career win last week and now ranks sixth in saves per game and eight in shutouts in the conference standings.
• NU enters the week tied for first in the conference standings with three points (three points for a win, one point for a tie.)
• Three of NU’s six freshman have seen the pitch so far this year. The Huskers started Lauryn Anglim against Minnesota last week.
• Nebraska is ranked 60th in the first RPI, released by the NCAA on Monday.
• Nebraska’s devoted fan base has continued its strong attendance numbers at Hibner Stadium this season. In eight games this season, NU welcomed 6,684 fans, an average of 836 per contest. This average ranks 12th nationally and is second in the Big Ten, as Michigan State ranks ninth nationally with 1,442 fans per game.
• Head Coach John Walker is in his 29th season, alongside assistant coaches Ian Bridge (seventh season), Marty Everding (25th season) and Samantha Areman (second season).
Huskers Celebrating 29th Season in 2022
• The Nebraska soccer program is in its 29th year since the inaugural campaign in 1994. Head Coach John Walker has been at the helm of the team since its inception, guiding the Huskers to more than 340 all-time victories.
• Nebraska has made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances in its first 27 seasons, including two trips to the Elite Eight and eight Sweet 16 berths.
• The Huskers have captured four conference regular-season titles and six conference tournament crowns. As a member of the Big 12, NU won the regular-season championship in 1996, 1999 and 2000, while winning the tournament title in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011 and two seasons later, swept the regular-season and tournament crowns.
Scouting the Northwestern Wildcats
• Northwestern is 7-1-1 overall with a 1-0-0 record in Big Ten play. The Wildcats enter the week with a five-game win streak, most recently defeating Purdue on Sunday, 3-0.
• The Huskers lead the all-time series against Northwestern 6-5-3, dating back to the first meeting between the schools in 1995. The Huskers last defeated the Wildcats in 2015 in Evanston, Ill., 1-0.
• Head Coach Michael Moynihan is 96-80-27 in his 11th season at Northwestern. He is 289-164-65 in his 26th season overall. Moynihan is assisted by Morgan Ruhl and Rich Manning.

- #1 Riley Fitzpatrick (Freshman Goalkeeper): Has earned six combined shutouts this season, while recording three saves
Scouting the Michigan Wolverines
• Michigan is 5-3-1 this season with a 0-1-0 record in Big Ten play. The Wolverines face Ohio State on Thursday night before its matchup against Nebraska on Sunday.
• Michigan leads the all-time series between the two teams, 1-10-3, dating back to 1994. Most recently, the Wolverines defeated the Huskers in Lincoln last season, 3-2.
• Head Coach Jennifer Klein is 54-25-9 in her fifth season at Michigan. Klein is assisted by Sammy Boateng and Tori Christ.
