Huskers Hire New Defensive Line Coach

The Nebraska football team has reportedly hired Cal defensive line coach Tony Tuioti as their new defensive line coach to replace Mike Dawson, who departed for a job on the New York Giants coaching staff. The news was first reported by HuskerOnline.com.

According to his biography on calbears.com, Tuioti has been with the Golden Bears since the 2017 season. He began as an outside linebackers coach before moving to coach the defensive line in 2018.

Before Cal, Tuioti was the director of player personnel at Michigan in 2016, where he was the head of the recruiting department under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Tuioti has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns from 2014-15 as an assistant coach. Additionally, he was an assistant coach with Hawaii, his alma mater, from 2008 until 2013. Hawaii is the program he began his coaching career at, as a grad assistant back in 2000.

He was a four year letter winner with the Rainbow Warriors as a defensive lineman from 1996-1999. The 41 year old Tuioti was born in Apia, Samoa.
