Huskers Halftime Recap – Huskers Being Little Kidded!: INDIANA 28 NEBRASKA 7

Resplendent in their glorious Surrender Whites, Nebraska came out and laid an egg worthy of a T-Rex and marched back to the locker room trailing 28-7.

The Blackshirts, facing easily the best offense since Matt Rhule’s hire, were badly exposed being gashed for 343 yards as the Hoosiers marched up and down the field at will with TD drives of 75, 88, 75 and 74 yards.

After the opening Indiana touchdown drive, the first half was foreshadowed on the ensuing kickoff return as Jacori Barney called on the ghost of Cam-Taylor Britt and his 2021 flubbed punt return against Illinois by gathering in the kick and wandering out of bounds at the Huskers 1-yard line. The Huskers managed 12 yards and punted to Indiana with the return moving into Husker territory. The Blackshirts held there, but that was about all the fight they would put up in the first half.

Nebraska drove downfield and appeared to be moving toward a tie until Dante Dowdell fumbled on the 12 to end the drive. Trailing 14-0, Raiola caught fire as the Huskers went no-huddle and drove for a Jacory Barney score to make it 14-7. Unfortunately, they would respond to two Hoosiers scores with a pair of 3-and-outs.

To add insult to injury, Rutgers’ hero Brian Buschini gorked a 25-yard punt near half’s end. Malcom Hartzog picked off a hail mary by Kurtis Rourke as time ran out but it was little comfort.

Can the Huskers perform a miracle 2nd half turnaround? Anything is possible and I hope Railoa’s foot is uninjured and his arm is loose.

Not a great start
