Huskers Go a Perfect 4-0 as They Conclude Their Tour of Italy with an 84-62 Win Over Italian Select

The Nebraska basketball team concluded their tour of Italy with a blowout victory over Italian Select, 84-62 in Como, Italy. The Huskers finished a perfect 4-0 on their trip. Three out of their four wins were double digit victories.

Walk-on and Lincoln Pius X grad Charlie Easley led the way in scoring for NU with 15 points. Four other Huskers scored in double digits as well – Dachon Burke, Shamiel Stevenson, Thorir Thorbjarnarson and Kevin Cross, who had 12, 11, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

First year head coach Fred Hoiberg said after Monday’s game that overall, he felt the trip was successful.

“It was a good trip for us for the fact that we got to spend a lot of time together,” Hoiberg said, adding that he feels that NU needs to make some improvements. “We’ve got a lot of work to do. There’s no doubt about that.”

Hoiberg said that the Huskers need to focus on sharing the ball more and improving their shot selection.

“There were too many possessions of coming down without a pass and taking bad shots and trying to do it individually,” Hoiberg said. “When we do it as a group, when we trust each other and make the right plays, we have a chance to be a solid team but we have to buy into it.”

The Huskers will return to Lincoln on Tuesday. Their first game is set to get underway on Wednesday, October 30th against Doane, in an exhibition. Their first regular season game will be against UC Riverside on November 5th. Coverage of Husker basketball can be found on KLIN.
