Huskers Face Tigers On National Television

NU travels to Missouri to square off with the Tigers for the first away game of the season. Kickoff for the game between the former conference foes is set for Sunday, Aug. 22 at 3:00 p.m. and will be aired on the SEC Network. Twitter updates are available by following @NebraskaSoccer.

Last Time Out

Coming off two impressive showings in their opening exhibition matches, the Huskers faced Western Illinois Thursday, Aug. 19, defeating the Leathernecks, 3-0.

Next Up

Following Sunday’s regular season game, Nebraska will stay on the road and travel to Waco, Texas, for a matchup with another former conference foe, Baylor, on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Kicking Off

  • In Nebraska’s opening regular season game, Reagan Raabe led the offense with two goals and four shots, and freshman Allison Napora scored the first goal of her Husker career.
  • Sophomore Sami Hauk led the Husker defense with 77 minutes in the goal with four saves against the Leatherneck offense.
  • Senior Dakota Chan and sophomores Eleanor Dale and Reagan Raabe received Big Ten Preseason Honors recognition, announced by the conference on Monday.
  • The Huskers shined on offense during last week’s tune-up games, scoring a combined 13 goals with freshman Sarah Weber, sophomore Eleanor Dale and freshman Allison Napora finding the net in both games.
  • NU will host 10 regular-season games in the seventh year of Hibner Stadium, after hosting six conference matches in an abbreviated 2020 season. Additionally, this year’s slate features eight non-conference and 10 conference games.

Scouting the Missouri Tigers

  • Missouri dropped its 2021 season opener at home against Illinois, 4-0.
  • Four Tigers, Julissa Cisneros, Cassidy Nurnberger, Milena Fischer and Ashlyn Mills, were named to the 2021 SEC soccer preseason watchlist.
  • Last season, Missouri went 6-5-3 and finished fifth in SEC play.
  • The Huskers are 19-3 all-time against the Tigers, with their last matchup resulting in a 3-0 Husker win. The teams first met in Columbia, Mo. in 1996, and Nebraska won 8-2.
  • After facing Nebraska, Missouri will stay home and play Indiana State.
  • Prior to Missouri, first year Head Coach Stefanie Golan spent nine seasons at Minnesota with a 92-64-24 record. Golan is assisted by Andy Stoots and Molly Poletto.
