Huskers begin week of Buckeyes prep

Nebraska head coach Mike Riley addresses injuries and more on the state of his team during Monday’s weekly press conference at Memorial Stadium.

By Tommy Rezac

Nebraska opens as a 24-point underdog against No. 8 Ohio State this Saturday, which according to sources, is the largest spread against the Huskers in a home game since 1957.

Depth Chart

Sophomore running back Tre Bryant is still on the injured list on Nebraska’s latest depth chart, but Coach Riley says he “may” practice on Monday. Junior Mikale Wilbon, who’s recovering from an ankle injury, is “feeling better” and is likely to practice most of the week. There’s no confirmation on whether or not he’ll play.

Injuries

Seniors Marcus Newby, Josh Kalu and Chris Jones were all on the field together for the first time this season against Wisconsin. Coach Riley said those three made it through the game well physically, and will be ready to play again.

Jones isn’t quite ready to play every snap, but will be able to rotate in like he did against Wisconsin with sophomore Eric Lee.

Junior safety Antonio Reed, who suffered a knee injury in the second half against the Badgers, is questionable/doubtful this week. Senior right tackle David Knevel is probable this week, while junior center Cole Conrad is still questionable as he recovers from a knee injury.
