Huskers’ Arm Talent at Quarterback Impresses; Whipple Stresses Ball Security

Nebraska opened up the early portion of its Monday football practice to the news media. It was the fifth practice of fall camp and the first practice that reporters were allowed to watch since last August.

After watching the quarterbacks, the Omaha World-Herald’s Sam McKewon tweeted: “Purely on arm talent, etc…it’s the most talented group NU’s had in awhile. (Richie Torres has a tremendous arm.)”

McKewon elaborated on Omaha.com: “(Chubba) Purdy has a lower, tighter arm delivery that Nebraska likes; the ball comes up with zip. Torres has a longer, fluid motion that flings the ball. (Casey) Thompson … wastes little motion either with his stroke or his lower body; he doesn’t have the strongest arm, but he was accurate in drills.”
