Huskers and Terrapins Play to 0-0 Draw

College Park, Md. – The Nebraska soccer team (4-5-1, 0-1-1 Big Ten) battled Maryland to a 0-0 draw in the Huskers’ first road conference game of the season. NU continues to lead the all-time series between the teams 5-0-1.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sami Hauk, who played the full 110 minutes, earned her third shutout of the season and collected three saves on the night.

Highlighting the first 45 minutes for the Huskers was a near score by Eleanor Dale as she headed the cross from Jordan Zade into the right goal post in the 26th minute. Nebraska recorded two shots in the first half.

The teams remained scoreless in the second half, but the Huskers had a few opportunities to win the game. Grace Brown took a shot over the defense that was punched out of the goal in the 74th minute, and in the final minute of regulation, Ashley Zugay fired a corner kick in the goal area to Olivia Brown who headed it just wide of the posts.

In overtime, the Big Red was unable to find the back of the net and recorded its first tie of the season.

Theresa Pujado, Dale and G. Brown led the Huskers with two shots each, and Nebraska held the overall advantage in shots on goal 5-3. Each of these three Huskers played over 90 minutes with Zade joining Hauk as the two Huskers to play the full 110 minutes against the Terrapins.

The Huskers return to the pitch on Sunday when they stay on the road and matchup with No. 9 Rutgers at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. at 12 p.m. (CT). The game will be aired on Big Ten Network+ (subscription required).
