Husker Women’s Basketball Team to Host Duke in B1G/ACC Challenge

The Nebraska women’s basketball team is set to host the Duke Blue Devils for the B1G/ACC Challenge this season, the NU Athletic Department announced on Tuesday. It will be just the third meeting between the two teams in history.

Both teams should be evenly matched. Last season, the Blue Devils posted a 15-15 overall record and went 6-10 in the ACC, while the Huskers finished 14-16 overall and went 9-9 in the Big 10.

Nebraska will largely have the same team in the 2019-20 season, returning a quartet of freshmen from last year (Leigha Brown, Sam Haiby, Kayla Mershon, Ashtyn Veerbeek), who combined for 893 points in their first year at NU. They will also return two time All-Big 10 guard Hannah Whitish. The senior from Barnevald, Wisconsin needs just 34 more points to eclipse 1,000 career points.

The game is set for Wednesday, December 4th. Coverage of Nebraska women’s basketball can be found on B 107.3 FM.
