Husker Women’s Basketball Freshman Forward Isabelle Bourne Helps Lead Australia to Win Over Colombia in U19 World Cup

Nebraska women’s basketball freshman Isabelle Bourne scored a team high 11 points for her national squad, Australia, in their 62-53 win over Colombia at the U19 World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2 forward went 5-8 from the floor and hit her lone free throw attempt in 20 minutes of action. She also added four rebounds and an assist.

“She’s played a lot of different international basketball at a very high level and trained with some of the best in the country,” Nebraska women’s basketball head coach Amy Williams told KLIN last week. “I think that preparation will help her make the transition from the college game a lot more smoothly because she brings a lot of experience with her to the table.”

Bourne is averaging 95 points, 4.8 boards and 1 assist per game at the U19 World Cup. She is Australia’s second leading scorer.

Australia is now through to the quarterfinals, where they’ll face off against Mali on Friday.
