Husker Volleyball Thoughts

  • I desperately wish Kennedi Orr would transfer. I love her, I love her style of play, but Bergen Reilly is almost robotic in her game, and you just can't give that up in any rotation iteration. Orr would be starting anywhere else. I would even go as far as saying any other Big 10 school.
  • Taylor Landfair is an offensive weapon… and a defensive liability. I see her as a more effective Ally Batenhorst (paired with Laney Choboy). It'll be Minnesota's worst nightmare "would've, could've, should've" moment.
  • Harper Murray is a high risk/high reward player. Lots of mistakes, but I do see her in the lineup unless a) she struggles or b) Lindsey Krause finds her stride. As of now, I think Murray's defense is slightly better (serve receive). That outside has to be great though. Harper Murray has to grow into a six-rotation efficient, effective, consistent player fast.
  • I think John Cook will eventually shift Skyler Pierce to an opposite hitter. she reminds me of a Merritt Beason for some reason.
  • Andi. Jackson. She goes crazy. She's such a smart player, too. I feel like blocking was an untouched asset last season, so I'm really glad she's going for it. I also love her slide, but that's nothing new.

Thus, my starting lineup… for now:

1 – Bergen Reilly

2 – Merritt Beason

3 – Andi Jackson

4 – Taylor Landfair

5 – Harper Murray

6 – Leyla Blackwell

With Rodriguez and Choboy in their typical defensive positions.
