No. 40 Nate Boerkircher
6-5, 245 • Junior • Tight end
Boerkircher returns as a key piece of Nebraska’s offense. A blocking tight end whose true impact doesn’t show up on the stat sheet, the sophomore from Aurora played in all 12 games and made seven starts last season. He caught five passes for 51 yards.
Boerkircher has a similar outlook entering 2024. He won’t have a major hand in the passing game; Thomas Fidone will remain the tight end who shoulders those responsibilities. But Boerkircher will still be a part of the Huskers’ rushing attack, a strength of an offense that frequently struggled to move the ball through the air.
