No. 24 Mikai Gbayor

A year ago, Gbayor was a relative unknown as a defender who hadn’t played in two seasons with the Huskers. That quickly changed in 2023 as he appeared in every game and started four times for NU at its hybrid linebacker/lineman “Jack” position.

Gbayor made 24 tackles including his first career half sack at Michigan State. He graded out best in pass coverage. Gbayor saw roughly 30% percent of Nebraska’s defensive snaps last season in a rate likely to climb as he becomes one of the Blackshirts’ more experienced second-level playmakers. His versatile skillset should help smooth the transition to a new-look linebacking corps.
