No. 22 MJ Sherman
6-3, 250 • Senior • Linebacker
Sherman’s time has finally come.
Such a central role never came at Georgia, where he appeared in 39 games as a reserve. It began to materialize last season with Nebraska with five starts and as a regular in the Blackshirts scheme. Now, he’s back as a “Jack” lineman/linebacker hybrid who can hang in the trenches or drop into pass coverage.
Sherman showed the Huskers what he could do in 2023 with a career-high 16 tackles while seeing about 44% of NU’s defensive snaps. The former four-star prospect from Baltimore could command a similar usage rate rise — perhaps with more starts — as he teams with fellow “Jack” playmakers like Mikai Gbayor and Princewill Umanmielen.
