Hunter, Coach Cook among Huskers to receive Big Ten Honors

Senior setter Kelly Hunter was named Big Ten Setter of the Year on Tuesday, while head coach John Cook was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Cook has now been named Coach of the Year by a conference for the seventh time in his career.

Hunter and junior outside hitter Mikaela Foecke were unanimous selections to the 19-member All-Big Ten team. Senior outside hitter Annika Albrecht was also voted in by the Big Ten’s head coaches.

This marks Foecke’s first career All-Big Ten selection after she received honorable mention last season. Foecke leads the Huskers with 3.5 kills and 2.23 digs per set.

Lauren Stivrins and Jazz Sweet were named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team. Senior middle blocker Briana Holman received All-Big Ten honorable mention for the second time in her career.

Senior defensive specialist Sydney Townsend received her second career Big Ten Sportsmanship Award on Tuesday.

The Huskers just won their second straight Big Ten title after finishing the 2017 season at 26-4 overall and 19-1 in Big Ten play.

Nebraska is getting set to face Stony Brook this Friday night at 7 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA tournament at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Pregame coverage for this game will start at 6 p.m. Friday and will air on B107.3.
