How Quinn Ewers Affects our QB situation

First off, no Quinn Ewers isn’t coming here, but he does have the potential to majorly affect who our QB is. right now he’s down to two options, Texas Tech and UT. if he goes to UT, Card and Thompson are both gone, while both of them would immediately be the best QB on our roster and have a ton of upside, they probably won’t come, but who knows.

but what I think frost is hoping for is that Ewers goes to tech. as if he goes to tech Shough and one of Smith or Morton will transfer. while both smith and Morton have a ton of upside (smith especially has the dual threat ability to make it in this offense) I doubt we’ll show much interest. the real name to look at is Tyler Shough.

Shough is an Oregon transfer to tech (cue groans) but he’s actually pretty good. and if he transfers, he’d easily be the second or third best QB in the portal. this is appealing for frost has he gets a quality guy who knows the basics of his offensive philosophy (though he never played for frost or helfrich, Oregon’s offense hasn’t really dramatically changed since the frost days) and he provides the best chance for frost to get to 7-8 wins, as he doesn’t need much development and is much for polished than almost every QB in the portal. since he has one year left of eligibility, he gives frost and sipple to develop and evaluate smothers, haarberg, and Torres.

while I don’t think this is very true, it would explain why’re haven’t offered anyone besides Brennan in the portal. and honestly more realistic than rattler and Gabriel and is better than Brennan and Johnson
