After a busy day of cuts, as NFL teams look to reach their 53-man roster, several former Huskers failed to make the opening day roster.
Among the most notable former Nebraska players waived was quarterback Adrian Martinez. The former UFL MVP failed to make the Jets 53-man roster, with New York moving on with Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor as the two quarterbacks to make the cut.
Former FSU rookie quarterback Jordan Travis was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list and will likely serve as the third quarterback on New York’s roster once healthy.
Martinez threw for 270 passing yards in the preseason, with one interception and no touchdowns.
The Eagles released offensive lineman Nick Gates, but fellow offensive lineman Cam Jurgens made Philadelphia’s 53-man roster.
