High school football: Who’s your pick for lohud player of the week?


We’re spotlighting players who had a profound impact on the previous weekend.

Review all our finalists got done in between the lines on Friday and Saturday, then vote for the player you believe was a game-changer. The poll will remain open until 3 p.m. on Wednesday and we’ll announce the winner on social media.

Michael Desiderio, Luke Hanley, Art Krasniqi, Dennis Mitchell and Lucas Sabbouh, Yorktown

The Huskers offensive line opened all kinds of room to run in a win over John Jay-Cross River. Yorktown piled up 505 yards rushing in three quarters and kept quarterback Kaden Gonzalez upright the entire way.

Nicholas DiNapoli, Westlake

The junior running back and defensive back had 14 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown and four receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown along with six tackles in a win over Pearl River.

Miguel Iglesias, Somers

The senior quarterback completed 12 of 13 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns. He added 84 yards and two touchdowns on six carries in a win over Fox Lane.

Kieran Jacobson, Mamaroneck

The senior quarterback completed 25 of 45 attempts for 338 yards and three touchdowns in a last-second win over Carmel. He also picked up 76 yards and one TD on the ground.

Scoreboard: Westlake impresses at Pearl River, improves to 3-0; Iona Prep adds to win streak

Mamadee Sangaray, Iona Prep

The sophomore defensive back came up with a pair of interceptions and took them both back for touchdowns in a win over St. John the Baptist.

Justin Parks, Hen Hud

The junior running back had 14 touches for 142 total yards and five touchdowns in a win over Irvington. He had 98 yards and two TDs rushing and 44 yards and three TDs receiving.

Chase Perini, North Rockland

The junior quarterback competed 12 of 17 attempts for 293 yards and three touchdowns in a win over New Rochelle.

Deshawn Terry, Mount Vernon

The senior running back delivered 264 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in a win over White Plains.

Landon Varley, Mahopac

The senior linebacker had a team-high five solo tackles in a comeback win over Brewster and led a defensive swarm that limited the Bears to 64 yards in the second half.

Tristan Werlau, Carmel

The senior running back ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. He also had two receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Mamaroneck.
