Hauk Earns Big Ten Player Of The Week Honors

Sami Hauk received one of the first weekly conference honors of the 2021 season as she was named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

A native of Argyle, Texas, Hauk led the team to two consecutive shutouts to start the season for the first time since 2003. The sophomore recorded four saves in the win against Western Illinois and added three more saves in the Husker defeat of Missouri.

Not only did the Huskers receive the first 2021 Goalkeeper of the Week award, but Nebraska also closed out the 2020-21 season with two conference honors. Makinzie Short was named Goalkeeper of the Week and Gwen Lane was named Freshman of the Week on April 6, 2021.

Nebraska continues regular season play this week in Waco, Texas, and Norman, Okla., and will begin Big Ten conference play Sept. 19 at home against Purdue.
