Gallery: Huskers Snap Losing Streak

It’s been a difficult stretch for Nebraska basketball. After a rousing, historic 3-0 start to conference play, the Nebrasketeers have hit the skids, losing five straight. When the #20 Purdue Boilermaker came to town, most expected that number to grow to six. But as is so often the case, the outcome is never quite so simple to predict. The Huskers ended their skid by knocking off the Boilers 83-80. The Huskers did it in a somewhat uncharacteristic way: bench production. The Huskers saw Jack McVeigh and Jeriah Horne combine for 37 points and 10 rebounds.

Another unlikely source of success for the Huskers was on the offensive glass. NU corralled 15 offensive rebounds and our boarded Purdue 40-35. With Purdue’s Isaac Haas hampered by an injury, the Huskers relentlessly double-teamed the Boilermaker front court and won critical battles down the stretch and forcing seven turnovers from Purdue’s post players.
