Frosted Flakes: Women’s Basketball Schedule & More

Amy Williams and her team have high expectations and a difficult start to their conference schedule.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team will play a 29-game regular-season schedule that includes 18 games against teams that qualified for postseason play in 2018; 12 of those being NCAA Tournament teams. The Huskers went 21-11 overall and tied for third in the final Big Ten regular-season standings at 11-5. Nebraska was selected for the 2018 NCAA Tournament where they lost in the first round to Arizona State.

Nebraska will be challenged early and often in 2018-19. The Huskers will tip off the regular season at home against 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifier and Missouri Valley Conference champion Drake (Wednesday, Nov. 7). Nebraska won a dramatic double-overtime thriller over the Bulldogs in Des Moines last December, before Drake reeled off 21 consecutive victories to earn an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Huskers then take a road trip to NCAA Women’s Final Four participant Louisville on Thursday, Nov. 29, as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. After that, they face Miami. The Hurricanes were an NCAA Tournament team in 2018. The next opponent is Radford who advanced to the second round of the WNIT after knocking off Penn State in the first round. The Huskers then play their fourth consecutive game against a 2018 postseason qualifier when they clash with Creighton on Sunday, Dec. 2.
