Frosted Flakes: Wasted Opportunities And A Fired Defensive Coordinator

It was close, but not enough.

It was a bittersweet Saturday. We had all penciled in the Ohio State game as a loss at the beginning of the season, but this Buckeye team isn’t as good as they should be. They were expected to be a playoff contender the beginning of the year. They don’t belong in the playoff.

The rotten son decided to come home for the weekend. It’s not like it’s very far – it’s only a 25 minute drive to his apartment which is one of the reasons why he chose the University of Minnesota. I’m not sure why he decided to come home. I suspect it has to do with him wanting to watch Nebraska get destroyed by Ohio State. That did not happen. It was a loss and a disappointing loss because there were wasted opportunities. It should have been a win.

He gave me plenty of crap during the game, which is fine – at least I have one kid who’s interested enough in college football to watch the games with me. We watch Nebraska lose and then we watched Minnesota play Illinois. He spent the entire game talking about the fact that their defensive coordinator should be fired. Then Minnesota gave up 55 points to Illinois. I didn’t even bother giving him a lot of crap about it. It was just sad.
