Frosted Flakes: The Mars Rover, Hedgehogs, and Weekly Honors for Husker Volleyball

You may have noticed at times, but I am a bit of a science geek. I try not to go overboard, but sometimes I can’t help myself. Like now.

The Mars Rover, Opportunity, has been roaming the red planet for 14 years on a mission originally slated for 90 days. The rover has driven over 28 miles across the Martian surface, helped scientists learn some remarkable things about Mars and sent home spectacular images.

In June a dust storm that covered the entire planet caused the rover to shut down because it wasn’t getting enough sunlight to charge its batteries. The dust storm started to clear at the beginning of September and engineers have been trying to communicate with the rover.
