The Husker women are geting ready for the Big Ten Tournament. Nebraska is the #8 seed and will play #9 Minnesota on Wednesday morning – assuming the COVID issues in the Gopher program have resolved. The Huskers have lost twice to Minnesota already this season. Should Nebraska get past the Gophers, conference champion #1 Maryland will be waiting in the next round.
The Huskers are currently 11-11 on the season and 9-10 in the conference. An NCAA tournament bid is out of the question, unless Nebraska pulls an improbable run and wins the Big Ten Tourney. In past years, a team had to be .500 to get a WNIT bid. I don’t know if things will have changed this year because…gestures around… Fewer non-conference games, which would theoretically benefit power conferences like the Big Ten. Either way, the Huskers chance at postseason play beyond the BTT either depends on or will be bolstered by a win on Wednesday.
