I woke up to find snow on the ground this morning. Ranchhand #3 is supposed to have a track meet today. He didn’t even bother to take his uniform or pack a meal for the meet. If he’s wrong, I guess I will be running a uniform and cooler of food into school later today.
The past two years, we have had April blizzards right when we start calving. This year, I thought we’d get by without one. The first seven calves are on the ground and the weather forecast looked pretty good. I didn’t see the dreaded “s” word.
How very wrong I was to think Mother Nature hadn’t noticed us.
Hopefully this snow is gone quickly and the wind isn’t as bad as the forecasts say it will be.
