It was another big weekend of Husker sports. The women’s basketball team ended their season in the second round of the WNIT. The volleyball and baseball teams came away with victories over the Hawkeyes.
I even managed to sneak in some Jackrabbit football, a 44-3 drubbing of Southern Illinois. However, an injury-bitten SDSU women’s basketball team didn’t have enough horses to advance in the NCAA tournament.
But back to the Husker baseball team for a minute. After getting shut out on Friday (3-0), they came back to score 23 runs in the other two games of the weekend series. That shows some confidence and some prep by the coaching staff. The team is fielding at a nation-leading clip. There is life in the bats – something that could be painfully hard to come by in the past few years and there seems to be some depth in the bullpen. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
