Frost adds Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year to list of honors

Nebraska head football coach Scott Frost was named 2017 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year by the Football Writers Association of America and the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Thursday.

Frost will be honored at a Jan. 6 reception in Atlanta in conjunction with the College Football Playoff Championship Game.

In addition, Frost was named a finalist for the 2017 George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award on Thursday. Frost is joined in a group of four finalists that includes Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, and Georgia’s Kirby Smart.

The winner of the 2017 Geoge Munger Award will be announced on Jan. 3, and will be formally presented at the Maxwell Award Gala in Atlantic City, N.J. in March.

On top of being named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Frost was also honored as one of five AFCA Regional Coach of the Year winners. The AFCA will announce their 2017 Coach of the Year on Jan. 9.

Frost guided the UCF Knights to the only undefeated season in the FBS ranks in 2017, just two years after inheriting an 0-12 team. He and his coaching staff will lead the No. 10 Golden Knights against No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1. in Atlanta.
