Stumbled upon this little nugget from Connor Happer who clipped out a picture from an article meant for North Carolina fans visiting Omaha for the College World Series.
Admittedly, if somebody was in town and staying in Omaha the first place I would throw out there is the Henry Doorly Zoo. It is routinely ranked either first or second for the best zoo in the country.
However, never once in my life would I think of suggesting the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
There are several other options I would suggest but you do have to ask what kind of thing they are looking for?
Want to see a museum? The Durham. Joslyn Art Museum. Have young kids and still want to go a museum? The Omaha Children’s Museum.
Want some good food? Block 16. Lina’s in Millard – get the sausage breakfast burrito.
Alpine Inn if you want to watch Raccoons eat leftovers outside while you chomp on some good friend chicken.
Yoshitomo in Benson is considered by the Washington Post as one of the best sushi restaurants in the country.
There are many other restaurants I hope will show up in the comments. Here is a food guide from Dan Hoppen made for the College World Series.
Want something out of the ordinary? Drive to exit 426 and go to Round the Bend Steakhouse on Saturday for The Testicle Festival.
Love visiting neighborhoods? Check out Dundee, Benson, Little Bohemia, North Omaha, the Old Market, South Omaha.
Just want to find a barstool and hang out with locals. Go find a bar.
Want to play golf? I promise you there are golf courses.
If you want to know what good college basketball actually looks like then take the drive down to Lincoln.
This is definitely not an exhaustive list but if there’s something you want to do I promise that Omaha has that somewhere.
Omaha has a lot more to offer than a Zoo and a dumb bridge.
Oh, and if somebody suggests to get a Runza then just politely nod your head and slowly back away from any other suggestions they may have. Joking aside, it is merely my opinion that I would have to be extremely hungry to eat a Runza and it better be free. As far as the fast food restaurant Runza itself, the burgers are pretty good.
Hopefully if you are visiting for the College World Series that you have a better travel guide than whatever Connor Happer clipped above.
For everybody else, if you want to throw suggestions in the comments then I’m sure non-local CWS fans would appreciate it.
