Friday Flakes: Two Proposed Mount Rushmores for Nebraska Sports

The twitter account @EstHuskers sent out a couple tweets which had it’s Mount Rushmore for both Nebraska baseball and Nebraska football. I thought this would be a good topic for Friday Flakes.

Below are the two respective Mount Rushmores.

What would you change? What about some of the other sports?

Does Fred Hoiberg make the men’s basketball Mount Rushmore? What about Cookie Belcher?

3 buyout candidates who could help the Lakers – Silver Screen and Roll
Once an afterthought of a way to sign players midseason, the buyout market has morphed into a real resource for contending teams to potentially find a key piece that could help put them over the top. The Lakers are well aware of the impact a buyout player can have, with Markieff Morris serving a vital role with the title-winning team in 2020. Nailing those types of signings is rare, but can prove vitally important in late-season runs.

Kamila Valieva’s heartbreak is a symptom of Russia’s Olympic disease – SBNation.com
Kamila Valieva’s heartbreak following the women’s free skate will be the indelible image of the Beijing Winter Olympics. For minutes we were shown long, lingering camera shots of a 15-year-old crushed after falling in the women’s free skate, subsequently finishing fourth in an event she was expected to win. In that moment there is no schadenfreude, no elation at the notion “cheaters never prosper.” We witnessed a 15-year-old’s world come crashing down in the span of 10 days, now forced to pick up the pieces shattered by a nation that will dispose of her, like so many others.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, the good vibes ended as soon as the postseason started, and they were summarily wrecked by the Atlanta Hawks in five games.

Husker freshmen like Wilcher and Wilhelm remain determined to help set a foundation
You bet they talk about it sometimes, C.J. Wilcher says. It’s a conversation shared amongst him and some other underclassmen, including injured but still very much engaged-in-the-daily-proceedings Wilhelm Breidenbach, about being those guys who can be foundation setters for the future of Nebraska basketball.

How Eli Apple became the laughing stock of the NFL – SBNation.com
The only thing getting burned more than Eli Apple in the Super Bowl is Eli Apple after the Super Bowl. The outspoken Bengals corner has become a lightning rod for jokes and criticism, and he’s getting dragged all over the internet.
