I remember growing up through the 90s and the 2000s and you would always hear about the great atmosphere at Memorial Stadium. It was difficult for opposing teams to come in and get a win.
That veneer has slowly been chipped away. I might argue that the first blow to the idea that Nebraska is a difficult place to play was in a win.
In 1998, Nebraska beat Louisiana Tech 56-27. However, Troy Edwards ended up setting a NCAA record with 405 yards receiving for Louisiana Tech.
This is when playing at Memorial Stadium might have started to not look so daunting.
We can list the home losses to teams like Georgia Southern in 2022 as the most recent example.
Regardless, if you still believe that Nebraska is one of the hardest places to play then I believe you are thinking of a bygone era.
With that said, you might not think that Memorial Stadium in Lincoln is one of the top 10 hardest places but for sure top 15? Well EA Sports doesn’t even think it’s in the Top 25.
EA Sports College Football 25, the new video game scheduled for release in July, has unveiled the game’s rankings for the toughest places to play in college football. It factors in historical home win percentage, home attendance, etc.

I might have a few issues with some on the list but do I think Memorial Stadium has earned a top 25 ranking? Absolutely not.
Start winning games and we can have this discussion again.
