One of my favorite athletes of all-time was traded to the Yankees. My daughter has his jersey.
I’m not going to write a long post about how awesome he was as a player. This will be short.
He was a part of the Chicago Cubs team that won the World Series in 2016. He was not the best player on the team. That was probably Kris Bryant.
What he did provide, beyond a couple gold gloves and being one of the top first basemen in the league, was the soul of the team that finally beat the “curse.”
He will be a free agent this off-season and I hope he can find his way back into a Cubs uniform. If not, he should get a flag up in Wrigley Field right next to Ernie Banks and Ryne Sandberg.
He deserves it.
Back to Nebraska sports.
Banton was drafted before some guy from Iowa and some dude from Creighton. Take that!

Can Breathing Like Wim Hof Make Us Superhuman? | Discover Magazine
Take a deep breath. Feel the wave of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide press against the bounds of your ribcage and swell your lungs. Exhale. Repeat.
Before consciously inhaling, you probably weren’t thinking about breathing at all. The respiratory system is somewhat unique to our bodies in that we are both its passenger and driver. We can leave it up to our autonomic nervous system, responsible for unconscious actions like our heartbeat and digestion, or we can seamlessly take over the rhythm of our breath.
