Pete Thamel of ESPN has been reporting on the settlement discussions involving the potential move toward Universities directly compensating players.
It looks like some common sense has shown up as a potential roster cap number I heard was 85 which appeared to me to be ridiculous.
Thankfully it appears that the discussion is now looking at roster sizes of 100 to 110.
*The range of roster limits being discussed is between 100 and 110, with the Big Ten lobbying for the higher side of that range. There’s discussion of a “phase in” on this, so teams with giant rosters – think 130/140 – potentially don’t have to make immediate giant cuts for 2025.

The higher that number gets the better it is for Nebraska.
The details will be flushed out, but it is my assumption that this will gut the walk-on program as we know it. It likely will not be that Universities will have 100-110 “compensated players” and then allowed to have “walk-ons” which would not be considered “compensated.”
The lower the number the better it is for smaller schools.
