FREMONT — The 105th edition of the F&C Cup high school football game will now be a road game for both Fremont and Columbus.
Both schools announced Thursday that the Week 4 game will be played at noon on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Memorial Stadium.
“It’s one thing in it of its self to play at Memorial Stadium, but of all the teams we could play, playing Columbus at Memorial Stadium makes it even more exciting,” said Scott Anderson, Fremont High School Athletic Director.
The game was originally moved off of its scheduled Friday time due to the Huskers hosting Illinois that same night to Thursday, Sept. 20, at Heedum Field.
While working to secure a more plausible landing spot for the game with Midland Athletic Director Courtney Thompson, Anderson fired off an email, what he called “a shot in the dark,” to new Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen to play the game at Memorial Stadium.

“I sent him an email explaining our situation and the big rivalry game with the F&C Trophy that gets passed back and forth,” Anderson said.
Nebraska officials got back to him a few days later, telling Anderson that his request had been seen by Dannen and they’d get back to him.
“At the time I’m thinking, we’ll never hear anything back,” Anderson said.
At the start of July, Nebraska did get back him, inviting the two schools for a Zoom meeting.
“They were like, ‘Mr. Dannen wants to make this happen,'” Anderson said. “We’ve been talking through logistics and we had to wait a little bit before we could announce it because of all the compliance rules that come with it.”
Nebraska is not allowed to comment on the event due to NCAA rules.
Both sides will have full access on gameday with Fremont, the home team, getting to use the Huskers’ pre-renovation locker room and the Discoverers taking the visitors locker room.
