Former Omaha Bryan basketball standout A’Mare Bynum commits to Ohio State over Nebraska

A’Mare Bynum committed to Ohio State on Tuesday, and Nebraska missed out on what would have been a marquee in-state addition to its 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-8 former Omaha Bryan power forward chose OSU over offers from Nebraska, Creighton, Iowa State and Xavier, among others. He visited Nebraska the weekend of Sept. 7 and was on the Memorial Stadium sideline before the Huskers’ football game against Colorado. He officially visited Ohio State a month later.

Bynum began his high school career at Omaha Bryan before transferring to Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) for his senior year. As a junior at Bryan, he averaged 21.1 points and nine rebounds per game.

Las Vegas-area wing Quentin Rhymes, who committed to Nebraska in September, remains the only member of the Huskers’ 2025 class.
