Former Nebraska lineman Dan Pensick dies at 65, funeral to be held Wednesday

A funeral Mass for former Husker defensive lineman Dan Pensick will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus.

Pensick, 65, died Thursday at his lakefront home from pancreatic cancer.

An offensive guard on the 1975 All-Nebraska team from Columbus High, Pensick lettered from 1977 to 1979 as a defensive lineman with the Huskers. Kansas City drafted him in the fifth round in 1980, but because of injuries he never appeared in an NFL game.

A sales representative in Lincoln for 35 years, he had a Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame career playing slow-pitch. He coached for the Lincoln Lightning indoor football team and was a Thoroughbred horse owner.

Pensick and his wife, Bev, had two children, Cole and Abby.

Cole, who lettered four years at NU on the offensive line, died in an auto accident April 2023.
