Former Huskers Head Coach Scott Frost Hired by LA Rams Nebraska Sean Mcvay

After rumors began leaking, Los Angeles Rams Head Coach, Sean McVay, confirmed on Monday the team would be adding former Nebraska Head Coach Scott Frost to the Rams staff in a multi-faceted capacity as a Senior Football Analyst.

Along with assisting the special teams coordinator, McVay also stated Frost would be working with both the offense and defense as well.

Per McVay, “Just to be able to get a quality, caliber coach like him in the building, as you guys know, we’ve had a lot of turnover for the right reasons, and you can’t have enough good quality people in-house, and really, to get him in, it was something that he wanted to do. And also, (there’s) the mutual connections, so there’s a lot of people that are excited about it.”

Despite not finding success at Nebraska, his playing and coaching experience is still eye-popping. In college, he learned under Bill Walsh and Tom Osborne. As a safety in the NFL, he played under Bill Parcells, Butch Davis, Mike Sherman and Jon Gruden. He was a Co-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach at Northern Iowa in 2008 and an Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach at Oregon from 2013-15 before getting his first head coaching job at UCF.

Besides Frost’s coaching experience, McVay also cited his NFL playing experience and the fact they were both option quarterbacks and added he “fanboyed” him from afar for that reason.

Many are wondering if this is a first step by Frost to transition to the pro coaching ranks or a way of re-establishing bona fides before attempting to return to the college ranks after unsavory rumors followed his mid-season dismissal from the Huskers.
