Humm started from 1972-1974, guiding Nebraska to a 27-7-2 record during that time. His 5,035 career passing yards were a school record until Zac Taylor broke it in 2006. Humm helped Nebraska to victories against Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl in ’72, Texas in the Cotton Bowl in ’73 and Florida in the Sugar Bowl in ’74.

Humm was also a fifth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 1975 NFL Draft. He was a backup on Super Bowl-winning Oakland teams in the 1976 and ’83 seasons. Humm played 95 games over 10 seasons with the Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Colts.
