Florida Gator fan here, serious question about Scott Frost

Several years ago both Nebraska and the University of Florida needed a football coach and they both wanted Scott Frost. Most of the Gator fans here on /r/FloridaGators were bummed we missed out on him. He coached right up the road here and we saw the success that he had.

When we got Dan Mullen we were super excited because, you know, whatever coach your school hires is the perfect coach that’s going to lead you to the promised land.

It was widely believed that Scott Frost did not Excel because how hard it was to recruit to nebraska. I don’t know if that’s true or not that’s just everything I read.

Dan Mullen is floundering. I think the general agreement is because he does not recruit well and does not have a good staff. He is loyal to staff members who are not good, specifically his defensive coordinator but generally most of his staff. They don’t recruit well and if you don’t recruit at an elite level in the SEC you are not going to win. You can’t beat speed and physicality and coaching with slightly better play calling and less talented players and coaching everywhere else.

So what is the consensus about Scott frost? Why hasn’t he succeeded? Is it recruiting? Or is it something bigger?
