Five Reasons Nebraska Will Win: Minnesota

After last week’s heartbreak, the Huskers head to Minnesota. Don’t you worry though, they are bringing home a victory.

Here are your reasons why:

Nebraska’s defense will easily be able to take care of Minnesota’s offense. I know that last week there were times when the defense bended more than we wanted, but they are tough and are bound to play even tougher on Saturday.

New Blackshirt, Quinton Newsome and his fellow corner, Cam Taylor-Britt played really well. Taylor-Britt had three pass break ups and a career high 11 tackles. while Newsome had 7 tackles and 1 pass break up.

You don’t need me to tell you that the rest of the defense has also been playing well all year. I expect to see some more takeaways from this group and I expect them to be fired up.

Statistically the Blackshirts are the 7th defense in the conference while the Gophers’ offense is 12th. I like the match up that we are seeing here.

Speaking of Minnesota’s offense,

At the beginning of the season Minnesota lost its best running back Mohamed Ibrahim. He was considered by some to be the best running back in the nation. Two weeks ago, they lost his replacement Trey Potts.

This week Offensive Lineman Cutis Dunlap entered the transfer portal. This season he has played in all five games. While he was not a starter, having this piece of their depth at o-line missing could hurt the Gophers.

We all know from last year that missing players aren’t everything though. That leads me to reason number 3:

Some of you may remember that last year the Huskers faced a Minnesota team that was down 33 players and still lost 17-24. In my head it was a much worse loss than that. I am sure that the players wish they could’ve had that one back. Last year was a weird year, but it’s time the Huskers break their two-game losing streak to the Gophers.

We are seeing a different Husker team this year. One of the ways that I can tell that is by the way that they respond after a tough loss. After that painful overtime loss to Michigan State, the team played with an intensity that fans have been waiting for for years. I expect to see that same intensity this week after their loss to Michigan.

Jon really needs the Huskers to pull this one off. He doesn’t need to put up with the ridicule that will come with a third straight loss. Nebraska will do this for Jon.

Also, Nebraska hasn’t taken home the $5 Bits of Broken Chair trophy in two years and it’s time that the best trophy in all of college football is rightfully returned to Lincoln.
