Five Huskers Earn Academic All-District Honors

Five Huskers were named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District softball team, announced on Thursday morning.

Billie Andrews, a two-time honoree, was joined by first-time recipients Mya Felder, Abbie Squier, Sydney Gray and Ava Bredwell.

Andrews, a graphic design major, holds a 3.85 grade-point average. Andrews is a five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and has earned the Nebraska Gold Academic Medallion. The Gretna, Neb., native received first-team All-Big Ten honors this season and leads the Big Red in hits, home runs and slugging percentage. 



Felder is currently pursuing her Ph.D in educational administration. She graduated with her Masters of Arts in education administration with a 3.93 grade-point average, and she completed her first semester of Ph.D courses with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Felder is a three-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and received the Nebraska Gold Academic Medallion this year. The Fresno, Calif., native is a 2023 team captain and earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive team. 

Squier, a finance major, holds a 4.0 grade-point average. The Lincoln, Neb., native has earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll every semester and has received the Nebraska Gold Academic Medallion twice. A team captain, Squier has started 53 games in left field for the Huskers this season. 

Gray is studying finance and has held a 4.0 grade-point average through her first five semesters. The Tucson, Ariz., native has earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll every semester and has received the Nebraska Gold Academic Medallion twice. Gray has started 49 games at third base.

Bredwell, a psychology major, holds a 3.6 grade-point average. Bredwell has started 52 games behind the plate during the 2023 season. The Shawnee, Kan., native is a three-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and received the Nebraska Silver Academic Medallion in 2023.
