Five Heart Podcast Ep. 254: Nebraska Football vs Wisconsin

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Todd and Jon start off talking about Husker baseball and basketball. Greg joins for a few minutes to start the football discussion before he’s called away.

Two games are left on the ol’ Husker schedule. Wisconsin and Iowa. Two perennial thorns in the Huskers’ proverbial paw. First up – the Badgers at Camp Randall.

Todd and Jon preview the Wisconsin game, noting how the Badgers weren’t a very good team to start the season, but figured out their issues and became one as the season went on. Is it because of coaching, or is it because the Badgers have a strong identity on offense and can find their way back to goodness because they know what it looks like?

On August 21st, 2015, Jon unexpectedly dropped dead of a widowmaker heart attack. He was shocked five times on the way to the hospital with no response. He was shocked two more times in the ER. He was dead for over 20 minutes. A stent was placed, and he was induced into a coma. In January 2016 Jon received a second stent and in June he was diagnosed with an anoxic brain injury.

He wrote a book about death and recovery. The title, “Been Dead, Never Been To Europe” reflects the ironic nature of life, what happens versus what we want to happen. It’s available at Amazon in Kindle and Paperback.
