ESPN College GameDay crew pick Michigan football vs. Nebraska

It’s going to be unseasonably hot in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, fitting for the Cornhuskers’ biggest test of the year, hosting a resurgent Michigan football team.

The Wolverines are slight favorites, and Nebraska hasn’t been as bad as its record indicates. The Huskers (3-3) have lost all three games by just one score. However, they have lost every game they’ve faced against a team with a pulse.

So when ESPN’s College GameDay hosts came to picking the game, they were split, with the regular hosts picking Michigan and guest picker Mark Cuban of Dallas Mavericks fame taking Nebraska.

“I was really surprised when I saw Nebraska a week ago against Northwestern,” Desmond Howard said. “Adrian Martinez is playing at a high level. But (I think) Michigan’s defense will be able to stop the run. Wolverines in a close one.”

“I think Nebraska is underrated,” Mark Cuban said. “This is their make or break for the season, right? This is my upset special. Nebraska at home. Sorry Des!”

Lee Corso picked Michigan in a close one, and Kirk Herbstreit concurred, noting just how well the Wolverines are playing of late.

“I can see why you’re saying that, but there’s something different about Michigan team, man,” Kirk Herbstreit said. “They’re not just good, they’re efficient. They’ve got a chip on their shoulder that they’re playing with. I think they’ll get pushed tonight, it’ll be a close game, but Michigan wins it with Cade McNamara playing it smart.”

Michigan football and Nebraska will kick off at 7:30 p.m. EDT at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
