Dylan Raiola watches brother Dayton throw at Nebraska’s Friday Night Lights camp

LINCOLN — Dylan Raiola wore a No. 15 shirt and the kind of wide, long sunglasses you might find Patrick Mahomes donning.

Raiola, the freshman Nebraska quarterback, was putting in a little recruiting work at the start of Friday Night Lights, posing for photos with 2025 prospects who are considering the school.

Later, Raiola worked the camp itself, watching, briefly with coach Matt Rhule, the dozens of high school quarterbacks hoping to catch their eye.

One of them already had — Dylan’s younger brother, Dayton.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound junior-to-be is, by all accounts, a Husker fan, and he has NU scholarship offer. Still, Nebraska has a new quarterbacks coach, Glenn Thomas, who has offered several other 2026 QBs over the last several months. So Dayton had a new coach for whom to throw.

And the Buford (Georgia) High School lefty — who has waited his turn at the preps ranks behind Dylan — has a fluid motion and hits receivers in stride. On a few reps, cornerbacks were able to undercut receivers’ routes and at least get their hands on Dayton’s throw, if not intercept it.

Dylan watched from a few yards back. Rhule did, too — at least for a little bit. Unlike iterations under Mike Riley and Scott Frost, NU runs three different groups at the FNL event — including on the new turf just north of Nebraska’s Osborne Legacy Complex. Campers wore shirts proclaiming “Scary Hours” — a nod to kind of work football prospects put in.

The showcase camp was the second and last of Nebraska’s FNL events as Rhule and his staff continue a busy camp schedule. NU will reconvene Sunday for a camp, then conduct its youth camps June 17 and 18.

The evening also doubled as the start of an important recruiting weekend for the Huskers, who are looking to grow their 2025 class.

Nebraska hosted a slew of coveted prospects, including Omaha Westside linebacker Christian Jones, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman lineman SJ Alofaituli, Galveston (Texas) Hitchcock pass rusher Malcolm Simpson, West Fargo (N.D.) Sheyenne lineman Kade Pietrzak, Layton (Utah) West offensive tackle Brian Tapu, Winner (S.D.) offensive tackle Shawn Hammerbeck and Lee’s Summit (Missouri) North receiver Isaiah Mozee, who is currently committed to Oregon.
