Dylan Raiola, other touted Nebraska football recruits attend Huskers baseball game


While Nebraska baseball legends milled on the Haymarket Park field Friday night, a crowd of multi-star football prospects did the same in the stands.

The Huskers’ mega recruiting weekend included a host of high-profile 2024 prospects who gathered on a chilly evening as the baseball team met Illinois. Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola signed autographs, chatted with fans, watched from third-base seats and eventually left as the sun went down.

The evening was lower key for Raiola than last month, when he attended a men’s basketball game and threw the bones to the delight of a boisterous crowd. His presence nonetheless was well acknowledged.

“That was a five-star inning,” the Nebraska baseball account tweeted after a five-run NU opening frame.

Other heralded recruits were on hand as well during their unofficial visits. Among those still on the concourse in the middle innings were receiver Ryan Wingo from St. Louis, tight end Carter Nelson from Ainsworth and offensive lineman Grant Brix from Logan-Magnolia (Iowa).

Much of the Nebraska football staff was also at the park. Coach Matt Rhule talked with fans and posed for a few photos. Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, defensive coordinator Tony White, offensive line coach Donovan Raiola and a host of other personnel took in the evening as well.​
