Dylan Raiola named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Husker fans, teammates and coaches praised Dylan Raiola’s performance in Saturday’s 40-7 season-opening win over UTEP.

The quarterback got another shoutout Monday, being named the Big Ten freshman of the week.

Raiola completed 19 of 27 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns, guiding Nebraska to touchdowns on five of his eight series against the Miners.

Raiola threw both of his touchdown passes in the second quarter — a 59-yard strike to Isaiah Neyor and a 21-yard pass to Jahmal Banks with two seconds left in the half — as NU scored 23 second-quarter points. That was Nebraska’s highest quarter mark since 2018 and the first time it passed for more than 200 yards in a game since 2022.
