Corn Flakes: Jordan Chiles, Fall Practice, and the End of the Olympics

Maybe I forget because it happens only every four years, but I don’t remember all the drama with prior Olympics.

The one that really blows my mind is the Jordan Chiles bronze medal debacle. Chiles was awarded the bronze medal on the floor finals after her coaches appealed her score, thinking the judges missed a tenth of a point on her difficulty. After looking at the replay the judges agreed.

Now it’s being said that the coaches appealed too late and that Chiles didn’t actually get the medal. She is being told to return her medal. I feel like this is so unfair to Chiles. They need to find a better way.

Arbitration panel won’t reconsider decision on Chiles’ medal – ESPN
USA Gymnastics officials said an arbitration panel won’t reconsider a decision asking Jordan Chiles to return the bronze medal she was awarded for floor exercise in Paris, but the governing body said it will continue efforts to let Chiles keep the medal.

Anyway, the Olympics are over and now it’s time to turn our thoughts to Husker Football and Volleyball, just a few more weeks until game day.
